PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated: September 2026
SORA Clothing Inc., operating as SORA Clothing ("SORA", "we", "us", or "our"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit soraclothing.ca, make a purchase, communicate with us, create an account, or otherwise interact with SORA.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with SORA, we may collect information such as:
-
your name;
-
email address;
-
telephone number;
-
billing and shipping addresses;
-
order and transaction information;
-
products purchased or viewed;
-
account information;
-
payment-related information;
-
communications with our customer service team;
-
marketing preferences and consents;
-
IP address;
-
browser and device information;
-
website activity and interaction information; and
-
other information you choose to provide to us.
Payment card information may be processed directly by Shopify and/or our payment service providers. SORA does not necessarily receive or store complete payment card numbers.
2. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
-
process and fulfill orders;
-
process payments and refunds;
-
arrange shipping and delivery;
-
communicate with you regarding your orders;
-
provide customer service;
-
administer returns and exchanges;
-
maintain customer accounts;
-
prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized transactions;
-
maintain the security and functionality of our website;
-
understand and improve our products, website, and customer experience;
-
maintain business and transaction records;
-
comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and contractual requirements;
-
send marketing communications where permitted and where the required consent has been obtained; and
-
carry out other purposes that are disclosed to you and permitted by applicable law.
We seek to collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.
3. Consent
Where consent is required, we seek consent appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the personal information and the purposes for which it is collected, used, or disclosed.
When you provide information necessary to complete a purchase, process payment, arrange delivery, process a return, or otherwise provide a service you request, we may use that information for those purposes in accordance with applicable law.
Where information is used for a purpose that is not necessary to provide the requested product or service, we will obtain the appropriate consent where required.
You may withdraw your consent to certain uses of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
Withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide certain services where the information is reasonably necessary to provide those services.
Canadian privacy guidance emphasizes meaningful consent: customers should understand what is being collected, why, who it may be shared with and the consequences of that processing.
4. Email and SMS Marketing
If you provide the required consent, SORA may send you promotional emails or text messages concerning products, releases, promotions, abandoned or incomplete checkouts where permitted, and other SORA updates.
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in the message.
You can withdraw consent to marketing text messages using the unsubscribe instructions provided with those messages, such as replying STOP, where applicable.
Transactional communications relating to an order or service you requested may still be sent where permitted by law.
This section matters because CASL applies to commercial emails and SMS messages. The CRTC says commercial electronic messages generally require consent, sender identification/contact information and a functioning unsubscribe mechanism.
5. How We Share Personal Information
We do not sell personal information as a business model.
We may disclose personal information to service providers and other parties where reasonably necessary to operate our business and provide our services, including:
-
Shopify, which provides our ecommerce platform;
-
payment processors and financial institutions;
-
shipping carriers and fulfillment providers;
-
warehouse and logistics providers;
-
customer-service providers;
-
email and SMS communication providers;
-
website hosting, security, analytics, and technology providers;
-
professional advisers such as accountants, lawyers, and auditors; and
-
governmental, regulatory, law-enforcement, or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Service providers may process information on our behalf to perform the services for which they have been engaged.
We may also disclose information in connection with a proposed or completed business transaction, such as a financing, reorganization, merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, where permitted by law and subject to applicable safeguards.
This is much safer than the current statement that SORA “will never share this information with any outside affiliations or individuals.”
6. Shopify
Our store is hosted on Shopify.
Shopify provides the ecommerce platform that allows us to offer and sell products and may process personal information in connection with your use of our store.
Shopify's handling of personal information is also subject to its applicable privacy practices.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
SORA and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, maintain shopping-cart functionality, understand website usage, improve performance, prevent fraud, and support analytics and advertising where permitted.
Your browser or device may allow you to manage certain cookies or tracking technologies.
Disabling certain technologies may affect the operation of some website features.
8. International Processing
SORA and its service providers may process or store personal information outside your province or outside Canada.
When personal information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, or governmental authorities in accordance with applicable law.
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the circumstances to protect personal information handled by service providers.
9. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, meet our legal, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and business requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we take appropriate steps to securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it, subject to applicable legal requirements.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction.
Our store uses Shopify and security technologies such as encryption where appropriate.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
This replaces the current absolute-sounding statement about SSL and Shopify encryption with something more defensible.
11. Access and Correction
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information SORA holds about you and request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.
Certain information may be withheld where permitted or required by law.
Requests may be sent to:
hello@soraclothing.ca
12. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may:
-
request access to personal information we hold about you;
-
request correction of inaccurate information;
-
withdraw certain consents;
-
unsubscribe from marketing communications; and
-
ask questions or raise concerns about SORA's privacy practices.
Some information may need to be retained or processed despite a request where required or permitted by law.
13. Children's Privacy
Our website and products are not intended to solicit personal information from children who are unable to provide meaningful consent.
If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child in circumstances requiring parental or guardian consent without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to address the matter.
The OPC generally takes the position that, except in unusual circumstances, children under 13 cannot themselves provide meaningful consent.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our practices, services, technology, or legal requirements.
The updated version will be posted on this website with a revised Last Updated date.
Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before implementing a material new use or disclosure of personal information.
